You have some weird ideas. You really think God is sovereign over all finances and creates recessions for a divine purpose?
The 81-82 recession was caused by the Federal Reserve to get inflation under control. They jacked up the prime rate to 20%. Contracting the money supply created a recession. That’s common knowledge to anyone who has even a casual interest in monetary policy.
The 91 recession was caused by the S&L crisis and commercial real estate crash accompanied by govt reducing spending to balance the budget.
2001 recession was caused by consumers increasing savings after the dot com bust (a balance sheet recession)
Current recession is another balance sheet recession like 2001 with a financial crisis like 1991 but both are far more severe.
These were all caused by humans exercising their free will.

God is sovereign over all things: finances, our thoughts, our actions, evil, etc. I don’t pretend that it is an easy topic to comprehend. If you wish to have a thoughtful discussion on the topic, please feel free to post further.
